My Politics

In the last two years, we have seen many political changes that have left the people of the UK in a greater state of austerity than ever before. During my time as an MP, I have fought against the injustices that the Conservative Government have put in place. I have spoken out in debates, delivered speeches, attended events and supported the 53 other SNP MP's in holding the Government to account over their actions.

Many people within the constituency of Coatbridge, Chryston and Bellshill have been affected, and continue to be affected, by these changes. My staff and I hear accounts from many people on a daily basis who's lives have been torn apart by the unfair and unjust policies that have been put in place. I have been a voice for these constituents in Westminster. I have relayed their experiences in the chambers of Parliament to bring attention to their suffering and highlighted the flaws that exist in the current system.

When I started this part of my political journey two years ago, I was filled with disappointment in the system and had an ambition to make a difference in people's lives. Since being elected, the disappointment has only increased after witnessing the true way in which the UK political landscape is being shaped by the Conservatives and let down by the Labour Party. I feel now more than ever, there is an urgent need for the people of Scotland to be represented in Westminster and if elected, my fight will continue.

Coatbridge, Chryston and Bellshill is an extraordinary constituency. The sense of community amongst it's residents is overwhelming. People support each other through rough times and celebrate together during happy ones. Either way, they join together and have a drive to make the area a better place. Whether I'm walking down Coatbridge main street, bowling at Auchinloch or visiting businesses in Bellshill, the people are always warm and welcoming. During the 2015 election, I won this seat from Labour MP Tom Clarke who had held it for 33 years. I knew people were ready for change but I have been truly astounded by the support I have received and would like to take this opportunity to thank the residents within Coatbridge, Chryston and Bellshill for their unique kindness and acceptance.

It would be an honour for me to continue to represent this area therefor, I urge you to vote for me on the 8th June.
